Job summary

Kforce has a client in Sparks, NV seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission automated manufacturing equipment.

The role covers PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Omron Sysmac Studio), HMI/SCADA interfaces (WinCC, Ignition), servo drives, safety systems, and electrical cabinet builds.

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field and hands-on control systems experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Program and debug structured text and ladder logic on PLC platforms (Siemens TIA Portal, Omron Sysmac Studio)
• Create operator touchscreen interfaces (Siemens WinCC/Proface/Weintek EasyBuilder) and SCADA dashboards with Ignition
• Develop sequences to control multi-station machinery for pick-and-place, dispense, roll-to-roll, welding, testing, and transport
• Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast, smooth operation
• Contribute to equipment conceptual development balancing specs, process requirements, cost, and lead times
• Design and implement safe control systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and other manufacturing equipment
• Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic and fluid plumbing
• Liaise with suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of equipment
• Maintain documentation for all electrical equipment and procedures, updating as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or 5+ years of experience in Control Systems Design and PLC, or equivalent experience
• Implementation experience (Siemens, Omron preferred)
• Human Machine Interface experience (HMI/GUI - Proface, WinCC, Ignition)
• Proficiency creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD (EPLAN preferred)
• Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) programming skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
