Job summary

Rule 5 Hire is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission PLC/HMI systems for diverse industries. You will develop and debug Rockwell PLCs, integrate MES, and validate AOIs while coordinating with electrical teams.

Travel to customer sites for installation and startup will be required. You should have 3+ years in controls engineering with strong Rockwell Studio 5000 experience and familiarity with MES integration; automotive experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI programming experience.
• Experience with Rockwell Allen Bradley software and Studio 5000 with MES integration is required.
• Proficiency in implementing AOIs in Rockwell PLCs and validating transactions.
• Experience automotive manufacturing integration and commissioning is preferred.
• Proficient with multiple field bus networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus/Profinet).

Responsibilities

• Create and commission industrial controls systems and HMI screens.

• Coordinate machine debug, power-up, and validation with build/electrical teams.

Job description

• Creating and commissioning industrial controls systems, PLC software design, and HMI screens, for different industries and environments.
• Responsible for PLC/HMI code development, code installation, debug on job site, and commissioning of the complete system.
• Conducting the peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams.
• Ensure that systems are designed and programmed to customer and/or DyAG build specifications using standard techniques and approaches.
• Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of systems.

Skills/Experience Required:

• 3+ years of Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI programming experience
• Rockwell Allen Bradley software and Studio 5000 with MES integration experience required.
• Rockwell MES (Factorytalk Production Center) highly preferred.
• Work directly with equipment integrators to implement existing AOIs in Rockwell PLCs.
• Support testing and validation of the implemented transactions
• Support debug and commissioning and carrying out changes based on debug/commissioning results.
• The ability to program/write code/ladder logic from scratch
• Prior experience with automotive manufacturing integration and commissioning.
• Prior experience programming within customer-defined standards and templates
• Proficient with a variety of field bus networks including but not limited to DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Profibus, ProfiNet, etc. a plus.
