Job summary

Konik is seeking a Controls Engineer in Minnesota to join a hands-on engineering team involved in PLC/HMI programming, system development, startup, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. The role spans design, programming, commissioning, and field support with travel to startup sites.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of PLC/HMI experience and strong debugging skills, plus an Associate (or higher) in Controls/EET; Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of PLC/HMI programming experience.
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley controls; Siemens experience is highly preferred.
  • Associate degree/certificate in Controls, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with engineering and field service teams.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%, primarily for startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer system specifications and develop project requirements.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join an engineering team responsible for PLC/HMI programming, system development, startup, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who enjoys working across design, programming, commissioning, and field support.

Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

This is a hands‑on engineering position that may require:

  • Climbing and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and industrial equipment.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Working around industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Occasionally working in high‑temperature environments, including temperatures exceeding 100°F for extended periods.
