Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain industrial control systems for manufacturing equipment. You will primarily program PLCs (Allen Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix) and HMIs, draft electrical schematics, and lead field commissioning at customer sites.

The ideal candidate has hands-on PLC experience, knowledge of Ethernet/IP/Modbus, and a practical, safety-conscious approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field.
• 1+ year experience in industrial controls engineering with PLC programming and commissioning.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) and Studio 5000/RSLogix and FactoryTalk.
• Strong ladder logic, structured text or function block programming.
• Experience designing electrical schematics and control panels; CAD tools and BOMs.
• Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, TCP/IP).
• Hands-on with motor control, VFDs, sensors.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Strong troubleshooting and on-site startup experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E ISO 13849 safety standards.
• Good communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain industrial control systems that automate manufacturing equipment and processes. The role focuses on PLC and HMI programming, control panel design, system integration, testing, and field commissioning. The ideal candidate is experienced with Allen Bradley platforms, industrial networking, and has a strong troubleshooting mindset to deliver reliable, safe, and maintainable control solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC and HMI/SCADA control systems for new and existing machinery and processes.
• Program, test, and commission PLCs (primarily Allen Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix) and associated HMI projects using Studio 5000/RSLogix and FactoryTalk or equivalent.
• Create, review, and maintain electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Integrate sensors, drives, motors, actuators, and other field devices; configure industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet as applicable).
• Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and hands-on commissioning and startup support at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues, implement corrective fixes, and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company quality procedures; incorporate machine safety interlocks and guarding requirements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, process, and project teams to ensure seamless system integration and o ntime project delivery.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, as built drawings, user manuals, and training materials; train technicians and customers as required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize control performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of experience in industrial controls engineering with hands on PLC programming and commissioning.
• Proven experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix), Studio 5000/RSLogix, and FactoryTalk or similar HMI software.
• Strong knowledge of ladder logic, structured text or function block programming, and control system design principles.
• Experience designing electrical schematics and control panels; familiarity with CAD/Electrical design tools and creating BOMs.
• Working understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, TCP/IP) and communication diagnostics.
• Practical experience with motor control, VFDs, I/O selection, and sensor integration.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, field commissioning experience, and ability to work under pressure to resolve issues on site.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, machine safety standards (NFPA 70E, ISO 13849, or equivalent) and best practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
