Job summary

Prysmian is seeking a Controls Engineer to manage and monitor the control systems for our wire, cable, and components manufacturing facility. The role involves developing control logic, maintaining equipment software, and ensuring system reliability.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial control software, PLC programming experience, and strong knowledge of motor drives. BS/AS in Electrical/Electronics is required; Wonderware is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC, and VFD) and relay-based systems.
  • BS/AS degree as stated in qualifications.

  • Install, configure, evaluate and maintain OS software and system management tools.
  • Develop and debug control logic for machine control and modify designs for complex equipment.
  • Maintain security, backups, and redundancy strategies.

Controls Engineer will manage and monitor all systems and infrastructure for this wire, cable and components manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain an elevated level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
  • Install, configure, evaluate and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Develop, write, and de-bug control logic for machine control, make design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Carefully and thoroughly document all control logic work. Keep existing documentation current and accessible to other team members.
  • Prepare reports and provide feedback to management as required improving operations and machining reliability.
  • Manage all assigned projects which include cost estimations, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve Plant and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain control system and electrical drawings for the plant manufacturing systems.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
  • Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements.
  • Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and as comprehensible as possible.
  • Provide direction to maintenance associates in troubleshooting, repair, and program AC/DC drive systems.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical literature.
  • Provide basic to advanced training to process engineers, maintenance associates and other personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
  • BS - Electrical Engineer, Electronics or Associates degree.
  • 4+ years maintaining industrial application software and control systems.
  • PLC programming. Wonderware is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of motor controls and drives (AC, DC and VFD) PLC and relay-based systems.
