Job summary

Webasto Group in Lexington, KY, a leading automotive supplier, seeks an experienced Controls Engineer to develop PLC programs for automated manufacturing equipment, integrate sensors and machine vision, and drive improvements in equipment performance and uptime.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics and 3+ years in manufacturing controls, with hands-on PLC experience (Allen-Bradley and Siemens).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation or related field.
  • 3+ years of controls engineering in manufacturing, preferably automotive.
  • Strong PLC programming using ladder logic and structured text.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in robotics, machine vision, and motion control.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and modify PLC programs for automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and quality systems.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, HMIs, robotics, motion controls, and safety systems to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Integrate sensors, machine vision, motion systems, and industrial networks into production equipment.
  • Create and maintain controls documentation, electrical schematics, and automation standards.
  • Support equipment launches, capital projects, supplier activities, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is what you bring to us

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • 3+ years of controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • Strong PLC programming experience using ladder logic and structured text, including development of new control systems
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLC platforms, industrial networking, and automation systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with robotics, machine vision, motion control, and related automation technologies
