Job summary

Webasto Americas is seeking an Automation Engineer to diagnose, program, and optimize PLC-based systems across our manufacturing operations. You will work with ABB, FANUC, and Universal Robots for robotics integrations, and collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to improve uptime and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in electrical/automation fields and at least 3 years’ experience in industrial automation, with hands-on PLC programming and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on PLC programming experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens; familiarity with SCADA and MES.
  • Experience with industrial robotics (ABB, FANUC, or Universal Robots) including troubleshooting and programming.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently and support off-shift production needs.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve automation, controls, and robotics issues to minimize downtime and support production uptime targets
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (Allen-Bradley and Siemens), including logic optimization and system improvements
  • Support commissioning, startup, and validation of new automation equipment, robotics, and manufacturing systems
  • Optimize production performance by enhancing cycle time, OLE, and overall equipment reliability through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to resolve equipment and process issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance and maintain documentation including electrical schematics, PLC backups, and control system records

This is what you bring to us
