Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Engineer (Systems Engineer) for a leading HVAC-focused client. This individual will join a collaborative engineering team responsible for designing and supporting hardware systems for complex HVAC equipment, including air handlers, chillers, and cooling towers.

The role involves reviewing and developing sequences of operations, commissioning systems onsite, and ensuring building automation software is functioning properly.

Qualifications

• Experience with Building Automation Systems and BMS design.
• Ability to interpret and design sequences of operation.
• Hands‑on commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience reviewing and editing engineering drawings and sequences of operation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop hardware design packages for HVAC equipment.
• Review and create sequences of operation for building systems.
• Work onsite with JCI equipment to commission systems.
• Run system tests and validate performance of hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve BAS/BMS software or controls issues.
• Collaborate with engineering team on design improvements and system functionality.
• Participate in training, shadowing, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

Must-Haves:

• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
• Strong understanding of HVAC hardware (AHU, RTU, VAV, chillers, cooling towers, etc.)
• Experience reviewing and editing engineering drawings and sequences of operation
• Ability to interpret and design sequences of operation
• Hands‑on commissioning and troubleshooting experience

Plusses:

• Experience with Metasys, Tridium/Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, or Trane systems
• Prior experience supporting large commercial or industrial HVAC environments
• Exposure to pharmaceutical or manufacturing facilities

Day-to-Day:

• Design and develop hardware design packages for HVAC equipment
• Review and create sequences of operation for building systems
