Controls Engineer position available in the Eaton Rapids, Michigan area working for an established manufacturing company.
This is a direct hire opportunity with a salary range of $82k to $90k. Day shift position. Will supervise, manage and maintain controls on existing and incoming machinery at the facility.
The controls engineer will support personnel from maintenance and other departments in resolving issues with equipment in order to facilitate production and promote continuous improvement. Is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting electrical and control systems for an automotive manufacturing environment, with a focus on production.
Key Responsibilities for the controls engineer position
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot electrical and control systems ranging from high-voltage AC to low-voltage DC.
- Develop and implement control solutions for integrated die-cast cells, including die-cast, robotics, cooling, trimming, conveyors, and machine vision.
- Support and improve controls for secondary production equipment.
- Specify and support the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing and quality equipment.
- Develop and maintain equipment documentation and manufacturing information systems.
- Provide technical expertise, hands‑on troubleshooting support to manufacturing and other departments.
- Research and implement new technologies to improve productivity, quality, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain expertise in die‑casting processes and technology.
- Lead or support engineering projects and other special assignments as required.
Qualifications & Skills for the controls engineer position
- Demonstrated experience in machine controls design and Allen-Bradley PLCprogramming, including ladder logic and peripheral systems.
- Robotic controls and programming experience preferred.
- Controls engineering/project management experience preferred.
- CAD/CAM, AutoCAD, or related drafting experience is an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and related software is an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Willingness to work hands‑on in the manufacturing environment and flexiblehours as required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Skilled trade certification (Millwright or Industrial Electrician) highly desirable.
- College or university education in electrical engineering technology or a relatedfield highly desirable.
- 10+ years of controls engineering experience highly desirable.
Work Environment
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position and work effectivelyin an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Standard schedule is 40 hours per week, with overtime as required.
