Job summary

Management Performance Associates is seeking a Controls Engineer to join a World Class Manufacturer near Oneida, NY. You will design and develop machine control systems, selecting VFDs, motors, filters, and protection devices, and work with PLCs and HMIs from Allen‑Bradley and Siemens.

The role includes hands-on installation, commissioning, and ongoing troubleshooting across multiple local facilities (approx. 30% travel). A BS or AS in engineering and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Engineering.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with NEC and machine safety standards.
• Eligible to work in US without restriction.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approx. 30% travel).
• Provide hands-on electrical and controls troubleshooting support to maintenance teams, including equipment diagnostics, upgrades, wiring, and real-time machine issue resolution.
• Connect to equipment, diagnose control system issues, and modify or develop PLC logic to support production and operational improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and develop machine control systems using AutoCAD, including sizing and selection of VFDs, motors, filters, protection devices, PLC's, and HMI's.
• Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs and ladder logic systems, along with Siemens controls support.
• Lead installation, integration, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment across multiple local facilities (approximately 30% travel).

Education and Experience:

• AAS or BS in Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Will also consider multiple years of equivalent experience in lieu of formal degree.
• Experience with PLC’s, HMI’s and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code and machine safety standard.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in US without restriction indefinitely.
