Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to support a hyperscale data center program. The role is based at our Atlanta, GA headquarters to work with the engineering consulting team.

You will develop BMS/BAS/EPMS control hardware design packages from baseline through submittals, coordinate with PMs, BIM resources, vendors, and commissioning teams, and deliver field-ready documentation. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hardware design experience, expertise in AutoCAD and BIM

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hardware design experience for mission-critical facilities.
• Experience designing control panels, I/O layouts, wiring diagrams, and network architectures in AutoCAD.
• Experience developing controls hardware design packages for BMS/BAS/EPMS or industrial facilities.
• Background supporting hyperscale projects such as data centers or similar critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with project managers, design teams, BIM/modeling resources, vendors, and commissioning teams.
• Prepare construction-ready documentation, commissioning readiness, and closeout documentation.

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to support a hyperscale data center program. This role will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA in order to work directly with our engineering consulting team. This role will support the development, coordination, and delivery of BMS / BAS and EPMS controls hardware design packages from current design baseline through approved submittals, construction coordination, commissioning readiness, and closeout documentation. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a technically strong controls hardware designer who can move quickly, coordinate across disciplines, and produce accurate, construction-ready documentation. This person must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced data center environment where design quality, schedule discipline, documentation accuracy, and field responsiveness directly impact commissioning success.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of hardware design experience
• Experience designing control panels, I/O layouts, wiring diagrams, and network architectures using AutoCAD that will be converted to Revit 2025 for BIM design.
• Experience developing controls hardware design packages for BMS, BAS, EPMS, industrial automation, or mission-critical facilities.
• Background supporting mission critical or hyperscale projects. Example: data center, hospitals, pharma, nuclear, education and semi-conductor industry
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, control schematics, specifications, points lists, and sequences of operation
• Working knowledge of control panels, PLC / DDC hardware, I/O modules, field devices, instrumentation, network architecture, and low-voltage controls wiring
• Experience coordinating with project managers, design teams, contractors, BIM/modeling resources, vendors, and commissioning teams.
• Strong attention to detail, document control discipline, and ability to manage design deliverables under aggressive project schedules.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience with Revit 2025
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ignition SCADA, BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP, EPMS, and BMS / BAS platforms.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination workflows, Bluebeam, Procore, SharePoint, or similar project delivery tools.
• Experience supporting 30% / 60% / 90% submittal cycles, IFC packages, as-built documentation, and commissioning deliverables.
• Knowledge of construction-phase controls coordination, vendor integration, and field issue resolution.
