Job Summary

The Electrical & Software Engineer for Ground Support Equipment is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of electronic, control, and software systems supporting aviation ground support equipment. This role serves as the primary technical resource for automation and controls, working closely with customers, product development, and manufacturing teams.

This individual will lead the development of integrated hardware and software solutions, translating customer requirements into reliable, manufacturable systems. The role requires strong hands‑on engineering capability, ownership of deliverables, and the ability to execute designs from concept through implementation and support in a timely manner per the project schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of electronic, control, software solutions and technical documentation for ground support equipment, from concept through implementation and support - per ISO 9001 procedures
  • Develop and implement PLC and HMI‑based control systems and associated software for automation and equipment functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, product managers, and supply chain) to deliver integrated, manufacturable solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and system designs with pace and accountability to the customers project schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electronic, control, and software issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing and documenting corrective actions.
  • Support new product development and product improvements, including automation and system enhancements.
  • Participate in technical design reviews to ensure system performance, safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment with engineering specifications and design intent.
  • Drive continuous improvement in electrical and software design processes and tools, and product configuration management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, controls, or industrial automation
  • Experience designing and implementing PLC and HMI‑based control systems (e.g. Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Ladder Logic, C/C++, or similar
  • Experience working with electrical design tools such as SolidWorks Electrical, or similar
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot integrated electronic and software systems
  • Experience working in cross‑functional engineering environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with customers and cross‑functional internal teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, or ground support equipment
  • Familiarity with SQL or data‑driven applications
  • Experience with configuration management systems (e.g., PDM)
  • Experience working in customer‑facing roles.
  • German language skills is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position is in office and is based in Mason, Ohio
