Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group seeks an experienced Controller with deep residential construction accounting expertise to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing homebuilder. You will drive job costing, subcontractor management, WIP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls to enable operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting leadership in homebuilding, residential construction, land development, or related industry.
• Strong expertise in job costing, project accounting, subcontractor management, and WIP reporting.
• Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
• Knowledge of construction accounting software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.
• Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions.
• Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
• Manage subcontractor accounting, including compliance tracking, insurance requirements, payment processing, and contract administration.
• Develop and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Partner with construction operations and executive leadership to monitor project performance and financial results.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and relationships with external accounting partners.
• Implement and strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting systems.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
