Job summary

NorthPoint Search Group is seeking a hands-on Controller for a growing residential construction organization in the Atlanta area. The role leads a five‑member accounting team and stays actively involved in day‑to‑day operations.

The ideal candidate has extensive residential construction accounting experience, strong job costing capabilities, and expertise managing subcontractor financial processes. On-site leadership is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• 7+ years of accounting experience in residential construction or related environments.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and driving process improvements.
• Strong job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and subcontractor accounting expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of five accounting professionals.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and close processes.
• Manage all residential construction accounting activities including WIP and revenue recognition.
• Maintain accurate job costing for various project types (custom/production/renovations).
• Monitor project profitability and provide financial analysis to leadership.
• Oversee subcontractor accounting, retainage, lien waivers, and payments.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and banking relationships.
• Establish internal controls and optimize accounting procedures.
