Job summary

Gilder Search Group seeks a Controller to partner with the CFO and build a strong financial backbone for a rapidly growing cattle ranching business. You will manage hands-on accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting, while driving automation and process improvements.

Key duties include overseeing the general ledger, month-end close, and audit readiness, with a remote start and a path to an in-office role in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Prior accounting experience in cattle ranching, ranching, agriculture or related agricultural business.
• Strong GAAP accounting knowledge and hands-on general ledger experience.
• Experience owning month end close, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Experience preparing monthly financial statements.
• Experience working with limited accounting staff where you own key processes.
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP software.
• Experience implementing AI automations / accounting automations to streamline operations.

Responsibilities

• Own general ledger activities, journal entries, adjusting entries, and reconciliations.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and collaborate with CFO/CEO to identify system improvements and automation opportunities.
• Assist in hiring additional accounting support for A/R, A/P, payroll and daily accounting.
• Support budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls in line with GAAP.
