Job summary

Oliver James Associates Ltd. is partnering with a well-established P&C insurer in Florida to appoint a Controller who will lead the Corporate Accounting function and work closely with executive leadership on day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.

You’ll own GAAP and STAT reporting, manage external audits and regulatory filings, oversee premium accounting, budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, cash flow, treasury and tax oversight, and mentor the accounting team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years within P&C insurance.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, STAT and regulatory reporting.
• Experience leading audits, financial reporting and FP&A.
• Previous people leadership experience.

I'm currently partnering with a well-established and growing P&C insurance organization to appoint a Controller. This is a broad leadership opportunity for an experienced insurance accounting professional looking to play a key role in the finance function and work closely with executive leadership on both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.

The opportunity:

You'll lead the Corporate Accounting function while overseeing Premium Accounting, taking ownership of:

• GAAP and STAT monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
• External audit management and regulatory reporting
• Reinsurance accounting and recoverables
• Budgeting, forecasting and FP&A
• Cash flow forecasting, treasury and tax oversight
• Cost centre budgeting and business partnering with operational leaders
• Leading, mentoring and developing the accounting team
• Supporting strategic initiatives alongside senior leadership

We're looking for someone with:

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years within P&C insurance
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, STAT and regulatory reporting
• Experience leading audits, financial reporting and FP&A
• Previous people leadership experience
• CPA preferred
• A proactive mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders across the business
