Job summary

Hoxton Circle, a privately held energy investment firm focused on oil and gas, is seeking an experienced accounting leader to own its accounting function. Reporting to a CFO who has built finance teams from scratch, you will lead the close, reporting, and systems, and develop a small team on a hands-on basis.

This is an on-site, five-days-a-week role in Houston. The ideal candidate is a CPA with 10+ years in oil and gas, strong systems expertise, and a drive to build and expand the finance

Qualifications

• CPA with 10+ years of accounting experience, including significant time in oil and gas.
• Strong systems background and comfortable owning administration of the accounting platform.
• A hands-on self-starter who thrives on a small team and works easily with people outside finance.
• Motivated by building and improving a function, and by growing your scope along with the company.
• Big 4 experience and an MBA are helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the investment team, engineers, and finance leaders across the group to understand the assets and turn operational activity into clear financial reporting.
• Lead and develop a small accounting team, shaping how the function operates as the business scales.
• Own the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financials and reporting to leadership.
• Act as system administrator, strengthening processes and reporting along the way.

The business has significant capital behind it and a clear growth plan, so the role will expand as the company does. You'll work alongside a lean, highly capable team you'll learn a lot from.

Note this role operates 5 days onsite.
