Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Hoxton Circle in Houston seeks a seasoned Controller to own the accounting function end to end for a multi‑entity portfolio across US GAAP and IFRS, and to modernize it with AI-driven close, automation, and stronger internal controls.
You will lead a five‑person team, manage consolidations, intercompany activity, and external audits, while delivering accurate reporting and robust governance across currencies and jurisdictions.
Most Controller roles ask you to keep the machine running. This one asks you to rebuild it while it runs.
We’re partnering with a Houston-based private investment firm that takes long‑term positions across the oil and gas industry: operated and non‑operated interests in producing, development and exploration assets, plus technologies that improve production. The portfolio spans multiple entities and jurisdictions, with US entities reporting under US GAAP and international entities in South America and the Middle East reporting under IFRS.
They need a Controller to own the accounting function end to end, and to modernize it along the way.
What you’ll own:
Here’s what sets it apart. Leadership wants the accounting function genuinely modernized, and you’ll lead that charge. That means championing AI and agentic workflows for close automation, reconciliations, reporting and exception handling, and deciding which tools actually earn their place. It’s not a side project. It’s part of the job.
What you bring:
Bonus points for a Big 4 background (energy audit especially), international FX consolidation and statutory reporting, investment manager or fund experience, or a system implementation under your belt.
