Summary:

We are seeking a high-level Controller to perform effective risk management and plan the company’s financial strategy. This role is critical to the company, as this person will be a prominent role player and strategic business partner in the growth of the company.

Candidates must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to broad investment and banking operations. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader, manager, trainer and coach since all relative departments of the company will be under their command. Construction/Manufacturing background is highly preferred with previous exposure to SAGE/Viewpoint/Accumatica/Intuit Enterprise.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
  2. Participate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  3. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  4. Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President.
  5. Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  6. Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
  7. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization, i.e., evaluation of potential purchases, alliances, investments, etc.
  8. Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  9. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  10. Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.
  11. Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  12. Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
  13. Perform these functions for the primary company as well as related entities.
  14. Manage vendor and customer relations as related to accounting.
  15. Monitor Billing, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Cost Accounting and Contract Administration.
  16. Manage and oversee monthly sales and use tax filing for multiple states.
  17. Preparing and analyzing cost trends and proposing ideas and solutions to reduce costs.
  18. Oversee outsourced services for payroll and benefits for 150-200 employees.
  19. Manage, train, set goals and hold accountable those employees under their control.
  20. Recruit, interview and hire finance, accounting, payroll, IT, HR staff as required.
  21. Serve as a key member of executive leadership team and round table discussion panel.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  1. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of all employees in the accounting and finance department.
  2. The position is also responsible for the direct supervision of the Risk Management, Human Resources and IT departments and the indirect supervision of all employees in those departments.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  1. This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as evening and weekend work that may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

  1. This position requires limited travel.

Experience:

  1. Proven experience as CFO, Controller, finance officer or relevant role.
  2. 5 years minimum experience in a company with over 100 employees.
  3. In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  4. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  5. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  6. Ability to strategize and solve problems.
  7. Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  8. Excellent communication and people skills.
  9. An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
  10. Construction and or manufacturing experience is a strong advantage.
  11. Vista (by Viewpoint) previous experience is a plus.
  12. Salesforce, Industry applications is a plus.
  13. Unionized work force experience is a plus.

Education:

  1. Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
  2. MBA is a strong advantage.
  3. CPA is a plus.
