Hi-Peak Staffing is seeking a Construction Controller to join our client in the exterior services and construction sector. The role reports to the CFO and oversees accounting across multiple operating companies, including job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability.

The Construction Controller is a key financial leadership role reporting directly to the CFO and responsible for the accounting and reporting functions across multiple operating companies and business units.
This position requires a strong background in construction accounting and multi-entity or multi-business-unit environments. The Controller will oversee consolidated financial reporting, monthly and year-end close, internal controls, job costing, audit preparation, and accounting operations across the organization.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working within a growing, acquisition-driven environment and understands how to build scalable accounting processes across multiple entities.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close across multiple entities and business units.
Prepare consolidated financial statements and reporting packages for executive leadership, lenders, the board, and ownership.
Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP and company policies.
Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accounts are properly supported and defensible.
Oversee accounting operations, transaction processing, internal controls, and compliance procedures.
Manage the annual audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors and CPAs.
Manage lender reporting, banking relationships, and covenant compliance.
Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and other FP&A functions as needed.
Oversee construction accounting functions, including job costing, WIP reporting, project profitability, and cost controls.
Provide financial analysis related to capital investments, pricing, contracts, and strategic business decisions.
Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements.
Evaluate accounting workflows and develop scalable processes, controls, and systems as the organization grows.
Support the financial integration of new entities and business units as acquisitions occur.
Develop, manage, and mentor the accounting team.
Accounting & Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing.
Proven experience managing accounting across multiple entities, locations, or business units.
Strong experience with consolidations and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
Advanced Excel skills.
Experience working within ERP and cloud-based accounting environments.
Experience with Sage Intacct and/or ServiceTitan strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role.
Construction industry accounting experience required.
Multi-entity or multi-business-unit accounting experience required.
Experience overseeing consolidated financial reporting and month-end close across multiple entities.
Experience with construction job costing and project-based accounting.
Hands‑on audit experience from preparation through completion.
Sage Intacct and/or ServiceTitan ERP experience preferred.
Experience working for a private equity-backed organization is a plus.
Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or rapidly growing organizations is a plus.
CPA and/or MBA preferred.
