Job summary

The Controller at M Search will lead the firm’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

This on-site role in Northwest Miami-Dade requires a CPA or CPA track, with expertise in trust/IOLTA accounting, financial controls, and ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Sage Intacct. Strong leadership and bilingual English/Spanish are a plus.

Qualifications

• Active CPA preferred, but CPA track candidates (or equivalent from another country) will be considered.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
• Experience leading accounting teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Deliver financial analysis, KPIs, and strategic insights to support executive decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, trust accounting, and internal controls.

• Partner with firm leadership and external advisors to support growth, profitability, and financial strategy.
• Maintain compliance with government agencies.
• Act as the point of contact for external auditors.

The Controller will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the law firm's accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and overall financial health. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a track record of managing complex financial operations within a professional services or similarly sophisticated business environment. Experience with trust/IOLTA accounting, settlement disbursements, case cost tracking, and financial controls is highly valued. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the firm's continued growth while ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency.

KEY Qualifications

• Active CPA license strongly preferred, but CPA track candidates (or equivalent if from another country) will also be considered.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership experience within a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager capacity.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
• Experience leading and developing accounting teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms a huge plus.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills, with the ability to develop meaningful reports, dashboards, and business insights.
• Experience within a professional services environment, including trust/IOLTA accounting, settlement accounting, or case-cost accounting, is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle highly confidential information.
• Bilingual English/Spanish and experience supporting a multi-office organization are a plus.
