Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the reinsurance structure, economics, agreements, commissions, cession methodology, settlements, and flow of funds.
• Evaluate reinsurance performance, loss experience, frequency, severity, and profitability.
• Translate complex reinsurance and financial information into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
• Coordinate regulatory filings, licensing, form/rate requirements with regulators and carrier partners.
• Oversee calculations, cession statements, reconciliations, and settlements while strengthening accuracy and controls.
• Develop robust reporting, documentation, and procedures to reduce reliance on undocumented knowledge.
• Build relationships with the reinsurance team and implement cross-training.
• Lead and develop the reinsurance function as succession plans evolve.
• Maintain ownership of reinsurance while collaborating with Finance and stakeholders.

CONTROLLER – INSURANCE

A unique opportunity for an experienced Accounting Reinsurance professional to step into a high-impact Controller position with a sophisticated organization in the automotive sector.

This is not simply a role focused on maintaining an existing reinsurance program. The Controller will have the opportunity to understand and influence the economics of the program, assess profitability, strengthen controls and reporting, and become a key partner to the Controller and senior leadership.

• Develop more robust reporting, documentation, and procedures, reducing reliance on undocumented institutional knowledge.
• Build relationships with and learn from the existing reinsurance team, capturing critical knowledge and creating effective cross-training and succession plans.
• Ultimately lead, supervise, and develop the reinsurance function as succession needs evolve.
• Maintain clear ownership of reinsurance while working collaboratively with Finance and other key stakeholders.
