Job summary

Cheer Home Care is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead financial oversight and operational accounting across the organization. Based at our La Jolla office, you will drive accurate monthly closes, strengthen internal controls, and partner with operations to enable profitable growth.

The role requires a strategic yet tactical leader with 10+ years in accounting/finance, CPA preferred, and advanced Excel with ERP experience to standardize practices and support performance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 10+ years of relevant accounting or financial leadership experience.
• CPA (preferred)
• Home or Health Care industry knowledge (preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with major ERP systems
• Strong communication, leadership presence, and collaboration across functions
• Hands-on financial leader who builds scalable processes for growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting and performance management.
• Manage month-end close process, reconciliations, and intercompany settlements.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analyses, and operational dashboards.
• Maintain A/R aging and 13-week cash forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, CA wage orders 15 & 22.
• Standardize accounting practices and controls; oversee payroll and cash handling.
• Support ERP implementations and system integrations across field operations.
• Prepare audit schedules and support tax and sales tax reporting requirements.
• Partner with Operations leadership on performance optimization initiatives.
