Job summary

South-Central Family Health Center is seeking a dynamic Controller to oversee the accounting department in a fast-paced, community-focused environment in Los Angeles. The role includes budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, AP/AR, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will drive improvements, ensure compliance with regulations, and lead staff in a collaborative setting while maintaining strong internal controls and accurate month-end close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent years of experience.
• Thorough understanding of debits and credits, amortization, depreciation, bank and credit card reconciliations, account analysis, etc.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, and bank reconciliation functions.
• Plans, directs, and coordinates all accounting operational functions.
• Ensures adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.
• Oversees business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
• Oversees the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds, ensuring all are in accordance with federal regulations.
• Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
• Consistently analyzes financial data and presents reports to management in an accurate and timely manner.
• Evaluates current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
• Oversees regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
• Compiles and analyzes financial reporting packages.
• Responsible for developing policies, systems, and special financial studies.
