Job summary

LeoForce is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for a fast-growing construction company backed by private equity. The successful candidate will oversee GAAP-compliant reporting, internal controls, and partnering with executive leadership and the PE team on strategic initiatives.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Oversee construction job costing, project accounting, cost-to-complete analysis, and job-level profitability.
  • Manage and review WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, earned revenue, and gross margin calculations.
  • Partner with project management and operations teams to analyze project performance, change orders, labor costs, committed costs, and cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and operational efficiency.
  • Support annual audits, tax compliance, banking relationships, and other external financial requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership and private equity ownership, including reporting packages and performance updates.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning.
  • Monitor working capital, cash flow, backlog, and other construction-specific financial metrics.
  • Partner with leadership on acquisitions, integration initiatives, and other growth-related projects as needed.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while establishing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Job Details

The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong construction accounting experience and prior exposure to a private equity-backed environment. This person will partner closely with executive leadership and the investment team to provide accurate financial reporting, improve processes, strengthen controls, and support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and business-partnering abilities.
  • Highly analytical, process-minded, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
