Job summary

Paro seeks an experienced Construction CPA to lead the financial management of its electrical infrastructure and construction projects. This role requires a controller-level mindset to partner with executives, project managers, and operations to drive profitability and strengthen controls.

The ideal candidate combines construction accounting expertise with strong business acumen, translating data into actionable decisions across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA certification is required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction, electrical, engineering, or project-based industries.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and budgeting.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Vista, Viewpoint, CMiC, Foundation, Sage 300 CRE, JD Edwards or similar) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial management of multiple construction projects from award to closeout.
  • Analyze project profitability, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
  • Review WIP schedules and revenue recognition processes.
  • Monitor job costing, variances, and financial risks; partner with PMs to improve performance.
  • Present project financials to executive leadership and support strategic decisions.
  • Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and month-end close.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction CPA to serve as the financial leader supporting our growing portfolio of electrical infrastructure and construction projects.

This is not a traditional accounting position. We're looking for someone with a Controller-level mindset who can partner directly with executive leadership, project managers, and operations to drive project profitability, strengthen financial controls, improve reporting, and provide strategic financial guidance throughout the lifecycle of complex construction projects.

The ideal candidate understands both construction accounting and project operations and can confidently translate financial data into actionable business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the financial management of multiple construction projects from contract award through closeout.
  • Analyze project profitability, budgets, forecasts, committed costs, and cash flow.
  • Review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition.
  • Monitor job costing and proactively identify budget variances and financial risks.
  • Partner directly with Project Managers to improve financial performance.
  • Present project financial reporting to executive leadership.
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis.
  • Review contracts, change orders, subcontractor costs, and project billing.
  • Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with month-end close, project reconciliations, and financial forecasting.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Construction, electrical, engineering, utility, EPC, or project-based industry experience required
