Job summary

GMEA Services, a growing Austin, TX electrical contractor, seeks a Controller to lead the accounting function from bookkeeping to financial reporting. This hands-on role covers job costing, billing, payroll, and cash management to support pricing decisions and growth.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 5–7 years of accounting experience, including construction or job costing, payroll, and GAAP/ASC 606 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5 to 7 years accounting experience, with construction or job costing.
• Experience with WIP, %-of-completion, retainage, and progress billing.
• Experience running payroll and AP/AR.
• Proficiency in Excel and construction accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Manage job costing, WIP, and budgets.
• Prepare monthly close and financial statements.
• Oversee payroll, AP/AR and billing processes.
• Maintain GAAP and ASC 606 compliance for long-term contracts.
• Coordinate with CPA for year-end audits and tax filings.
