Job summary

CPS Inc. in Itasca, IL seeks an experienced Controller to oversee finance, accounting, and reporting, and to drive strategic financial direction across the organization.

You will lead daily finance operations, supervise payroll, accounts payable/receivable, billing, and audits, and ensure adherence to internal controls and multi-state requirements.

Sage100 experience, strong month-end close, WIP scheduling, and effective communication with executives and vendors are essential.

Qualifications

• Sage100 software experience required.
• Strong month-end close experience.
• Experience with payroll processing and outside payroll partners.
• Ability to prepare and reconcile accounts and work in multi-state environments.
• Experience billing customers with construction-industry formatting.
• Excellent communication with execs, staff, vendors and clients.

Job description

Position: We are a family-owned construction company located near O'Hare Airport seeking an experienced Controller. The Controller will help set the financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization?s overall strategy, financial administration, business planning, and budgeting. The Controller will have responsibility for the oversight of finance, accounting and reporting activities. Leads day-to-day finance operations and supervises functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing. Assures that the company has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits.

Responsibilities:

• Recent direct experience with Sage100 software.
• Experienced in account reconciliation and month-end closing procedures.
• Ability to bill customers using construction industry required formatting.
• Significant experience in preparation of work in progress schedules
• Ability to manage payroll processing with the assistance of an outside payroll company.
• Ability to effectively communicate with executive management, staff, vendors and clients.
• Administration of 401k plan
• Experience in multi-state accounting practices.
• Ability to oversee and improve accounting practices.
• Must have a personal commitment to quality and attention-to-detail.
