Job summary

The French Agency Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations in a four‑day workweek environment, headquartered in Phoenix, AZ. This hands‑on role reports to the CFO and oversees AP, AR, and Payroll teams, with direct accountability to executive leadership.

Required construction industry experience and Sage Intacct proficiency, plus strong GAAP knowledge. CPA not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of accounting leadership or management experience.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Sage Intacct experience required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close.
• Experience with financial dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Sage 300, UKG, and Power BI experience preferred.
• CPA is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions
• Manage, mentor, and support three direct reports
• Maintain financial dashboards and KPI reporting
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight and support business decisions
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure financial data accuracy
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Coordinate audit preparation and financial documentation
• Identify and implement accounting process improvements and best practices

Schedule: 100% in-office | Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–4:30 PM | Most Fridays off

Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 base salary + bonus eligibility

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing organization. This position reports directly to the CFO and oversees three accounting team members responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.

The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience, Sage Intacct experience, and a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. CPA certification is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules

• Analyze financial trends, risks, opportunities, and business performance

This is a hands-on Controller opportunity with direct access to executive leadership and responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function. The position offers a four-day primary workweek, with Fridays generally off unless business needs require additional work.
