Job summary

Abacus Group seeks a skilled Controller to join their Manhattan, NY office, leading consolidated financial reporting for a jewelry manufacturer and distributor. The role oversees budgeting, close processes, controls, GAAP compliance, and audit readiness in a hybrid environment.

You will collaborate with operations and supply chain to optimize inventory costing and drive strategic financial planning for the business.

Qualifications

• 8–15 years of corporate accounting experience.
• Wholesale or retail industry experience required.
• Private company experience or mix of private/public exposure.
• Inventory accounting experience required.
• Public company experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

• Compile consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Assist with internal and external audits and provide supporting documentation.
• Evaluate financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, and related reporting.
• Analyze cost of goods sold, inventory costs, and operational metrics.
• Partner with operations and supply chain to support inventory, purchasing, shipping, and revenue accounting.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across the business
