R. Mason & Co., LLC, a Virginia-based Fractional CFO and business consulting firm, seeks Full-Time or Part-Time Controllers to work with Partners on client engagements on a Hybrid and/or Remote basis.

The role centers on leading accounting processes, month-end closings, revenue/expense analysis, and financial reporting, using QuickBooks/ERP, Excel, and strong communication with client staff. 5+ years experience and a degree in business or accounting preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in similar accounting/financial leadership roles.
• Ability to develop and maintain sound accounting practices and controls.
• Excellent communication with clients and staff across organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting transactions and processes with client/contracted staff.
• Develop, refine and complete Month-End closings on a timely basis.
• Research and review transactional data for accuracy.
• Make corrections and adjusting entries as needed.
• Assist in revenue and expense research and analysis.
• Assist in preparing financials (IS, BS, CF).
• Prepare rolling 13-week cash forecasts.
• Contribute to improving client’s business processes.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Other related research, analysis and projects.

Mason & Co., founded in 2022, is a dynamic Fractional CFO and Business Consulting Firm lead by two seasoned business executives with deep experience in financial and operational management across varied industries and segments, including industrial manufacturing, consumer products, food production, business services, technology, etc.

With offices in Staunton, Virginia and Greensboro, North Carolina, R. Mason & Co. works with small and medium-sized companies ($5 - $50+ mil in sales) throughout the East Coast region and provides exceptional client services focused on financial leadership, improving business strategy, operations, and internal accounting.

As we continue to grow our firm, we are seeking to hire/contract with one or more Full-Time or Part-Time Controllers and/or Accounting Managers to work closely with the Partners on client engagements on a Hybrid and/or Remote basis. In this position, the candidate will play a central role in interfacing with the client on a regular basis and work with the client’s staff and/or other contracted accounting staff to lead the efforts to develop and maintain sound accounting practices, processes and records.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee accounting transactions and processes and work with both client/contracted accounting staff on daily accounting needs
• Develop, refine and complete Month-End closings on a timely basis
• Research and review transactional data for accuracy
• Make corrections and adjusting entries as needed
• Assist in revenue and expense research and analysis
• Assist in preparing financials, including IS, BS, CF
• Prepare rolling 13-week cash forecasts

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience with similar responsibilities and duties
• Strong analytical and organization skills
• Ability to complete projects with speed and accuracy, under pressure with short deadlines
• Knowledge and experience in QuickBooks and/or other ERP/Accounting systems
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and data analysis tools
• Degree in Business Administration or Accounting, preferred but not required
• Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with team members, clients and their staff
• Ability to think outside the box, take direction and feedback from Partners, learn new skills and challenge oneself

Accountability

• Reports directly to the firm’s Partners

Compensation

• Positions include both Full-Time and Part-Time (15-30 hours per week). An attractive compensation package will be offered that is commensurate with background, experience, skills and education.
