Job summary

Breakdown Services seeks a Controller to lead the company’s finances from its Los Angeles base. You will oversee accounting operations, prepare reports, and drive efficiency while partnering with owners on growth opportunities.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in accounting, a CPA or related credentials, and strong QuickBooks Online proficiency. This fully remote-friendly role demands precision, confidentiality, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• CPA certification or additional accounting credentials are a plus.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, and modern accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet management skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Experience in Service Industry, Entertainment Industry a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, vendor payments, and account reconciliations.
• Maintain and oversee bookkeeping and financial reporting through QuickBooks Online, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including financial statements, general ledger reviews, and trial balances.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, expense tracking, and overall financial performance to support operational decision-making.
• Coordinate with external CPA partners throughout the accounting cycle, including reporting, compliance, and year-end processes.
• Analyze financial data and provide reporting insights and recommendations to leadership.
• Develop, implement, and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and scalable financial processes.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning initiatives to align with company growth objectives.
• Assist with operational scaling efforts and cross-functional process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
