As we continue expanding our footprint across the entertainment and production transportation markets, we are seeking an experienced, detail-driven Accounting Controller to oversee our accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls as the company scales.

Position Summary
  • The Accounting Controller will be responsible for managing Hollywood Trucks' day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and leading month-end and year-end close processes.
  • This role will oversee general ledger accounting, financial reporting, fleet and asset accounting, and compliance, while collaborating cross-functionally with operations, fleet, sales, and executive leadership to support the company's continued growth.
  • The ideal candidate is a highly organized accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven track record of building and maintaining sound financial controls in a fast-growing company.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed asset/fleet accounting.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses for executive leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with Fleet Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership (CFO).
  • Manage cash flow reporting, banking relationships, and some treasury functions.
  • Oversee fleet and asset accounting, including depreciation schedules, capital expenditures, and lease accounting.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff as the company expands.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to ensure accurate revenue recognition and contract accounting.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and reporting tools to support scalability.
  • Monitor industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes affecting the company.
Day-to-Day & Recurring Duties
  • Daily: Monitor cash position and bank activity across operating accounts, review and post cash receipts and lease payments, approve and code accounts payable invoices, track lease receivables and flag delinquent accounts, and review new lease agreements for accurate setup in the accounting system.
  • Weekly: Process accounts payable check/ACH runs, review and approve multi-state payroll, reconcile the lease receivables aging report, update fixed asset and lease schedules for acquisitions and dispositions, and spot-check sales/use tax on new leases by state.
  • Monthly: Complete the full month-end close, record depreciation across subsidiaries, reconcile all bank accounts and subledgers, prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) by subsidiary and consolidated with variance analysis, file sales/use tax returns, and assist the CFO with the rolling cash flow forecast.
  • Quarterly: File quarterly payroll tax returns across operating states, estimate and remit income/franchise tax payments, and prepare the quarterly board/ownership financial package.
  • Annually: Coordinate year-end close and audit, prepare federal and multi-state tax return workpapers with outside CPAs, file business personal property tax renditions in each operating state, perform physical verification of leased equipment against the fixed asset register, and assist the CFO with the annual budget and forecast.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience in a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing month-end/year-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with fleet, asset-intensive, or logistics/transportation accounting highly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting systems and ERP software, along with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, growing company.
  • Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in entertainment production, transportation, logistics, or specialty fleet industries.
  • Background working with rapidly growing, technology-driven companies.
  • Experience supporting external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Familiarity with lease accounting and capital equipment/fleet depreciation.
