Job summary

KLR Executive Search is partnering with a growing, privately held distribution company to identify a Controller who will report to the Chief Financial Officer and help lead day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and the move to full U.S. GAAP compliance.

This hands-on leader will strengthen close, budgeting, forecasting and analysis capabilities and build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth in a high-SKU, inventory-intensive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Five to ten years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Significant hands-on knowledge of U.S. GAAP; CPA preferred but not required.
• Strong inventory accounting experience in a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or similarly complex inventory environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting and financial reporting activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting accounting records.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and broader accounting operations.
• Lead cost accounting, including valuation, reserves, reconciliations, product costing, gross margin analysis, physical inventory, and cycle-count controls.
• Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, working-capital analyses, and budget-to-actual reporting.
• Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.

This strategic, hands-on leader will own day-to-day accounting and financial reporting, lead the organization's transition to full U.S. GAAP compliance, strengthen close, budgeting, forecasting and analysis capabilities, and build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth in a complex, high-SKU, inventory-intensive environment.

Compensation

The expected base salary range is $170K-$ 180K.
