The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong manufacturing cost accounting knowledge, and a hands-on leadership style to drive process improvements and financial strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• At least 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong cost accounting, inventory, P&L analysis, and GAAP knowledge.
• Advanced Excel and ERP systems experience required.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; collaborative leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations and month-end/year-end close.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, variances, and profitability.
• Partner with operations to identify cost savings and efficiencies.
• Maintain internal controls, GAAP compliance, and asset protection.
• Monitor KPIs and provide actionable financial insights.
• Collaborate with production and cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives.
• Provide leadership and development to accounting staff.

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization in Western Massachusetts seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, strategic accounting professional who enjoys working beyond the numbers. The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing accounting experience, a passion for process improvement, and the ability to serve as a trusted financial business partner to operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end and year-end close processes.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and financial performance reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, production variances, and profitability.
• Partner with operational leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiencies.
• Maintain strong internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and safeguard company assets.
• Monitor financial and operational KPIs, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
• Collaborate with production and cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and development to accounting staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, P&L analysis, and GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into business recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, hands-on leadership style.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
