Job summary

Corporate Resources is seeking a Controller in West Chicago, IL to guide financial strategy and support operational success. This hands-on leadership role oversees accounting operations across locations and partners with senior leadership on budgets and plans.

The ideal candidate brings manufacturing accounting experience, strong team leadership, and expertise in GAAP compliance to drive financial visibility and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with Controller title or similar.
• Manufacturing industry experience required.
• Experience supervising core accounting functions including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Invoicing, Inventory Accounting and Payroll.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 5 employees across all accounting operations.
• Oversee the monthly close process and financial consolidation for multiple locations while providing technical accounting guidance to staff.
• Prepare, analyze, and present accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Partner with senior leadership to develop, administer, and monitor financial plans and budgets, keeping leadership informed of organizational financial performance.
• Direct all accounting functions, including policy development, financial systems improvements, and operational management.
• Establish and maintain strong internal financial and operational controls, ensuring timely reporting to executive leadership.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies; monitor regulatory changes and manage organizational impact.
• Develop and implement structured reporting cadence and performance metrics to proactively assess business performance.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including inventory control and depreciation schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• Minimum of 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, currently holding a Controller title or similar, with demonstrated management experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience required
• Experience supervising core accounting functions including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Invoicing, Inventory Accounting and Payroll
• Strong business and financial acumen with sound judgment and decision-making skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
