Job summary

Rand Precision Machining is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our finance team and oversee all financial activities across sites. The role reports to the CFO and may manage a small team of professionals.

You will ensure accurate financial transactions, strong internal controls, and GAAP compliance while driving improvements in reporting and forecasting. The ideal candidate brings 8–10 years in finance with 5+ years in leadership, preferably in manufacturing, and proven ability to manage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's or CPA is preferred.
  • 8–10 years in progressive finance roles with 5+ years in leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in budgeting, FP&A, cash flow management, and manufacturing is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review, manage, and audit key financial transactions across all sites/divisions.
  • Ensure accuracy of AP/AR aging, fixed assets, and depreciation.
  • Lead credit and collection activities and optimize working capital.
  • Support development of annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports with variance analyses and KPIs.
  • Establish internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Drive automation and process improvements in financial reporting.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to the finance team.

As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are seeking an experienced and talented individual to join our team as a Controller.

Job Overview

The Controller will be a key member of our finance team and will play a critical role in managing and overseeing all financial activities of the company with a strong focus on accurate and complete financial transactions at all sites/divisions. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and may have a small team of financial professionals to manage.

Responsibilities
Financial Transaction Accuracy & Completeness:
  • Review, Manage and Audit key financial transactions at all sites/divisions.
  • Ensure accuracy of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable aging reports at all sites/divisions.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of Fixed Asset listings and depreciation reports at all sites/divisions.
  • Drive Credit and Collection activities at all sites/divisions.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements at all sites/divisions.
Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Support development and implementation of financial planning and forecasting processes to support the company's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Help identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities to senior management and recommend appropriate actions to drive financial performance.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required financial reports and tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Cash Flow Management
  • Support development and implementation of cash flow forecasting models to effectively manage working capital and liquidity.
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow trends, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and recommend appropriate actions to optimize cash flow.
Budgeting and Cost Control
  • Support the annual budgeting process, working closely with senior management and department managers to develop detailed budgets and financial targets.
  • Help monitor and analyze actual performance against budget, investigating and explaining variances.
  • Identify and implement cost control initiatives to maximize profitability and efficiency.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline financial reporting and analysis.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in financial management and recommend and implement relevant improvements.
Team Management
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Set performance goals and objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA certification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in using financial software and ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
