Job description

A private-equity backed manufacturing organization operating at meaningful international scale is entering its next phase of growth through organic expansion and targeted acquisitions. They serve a global customer base across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Purpose of the Position

The Controller will serve as the senior operational accounting leader for the enterprise, owning global close, consolidation, and technical accounting across a complex international footprint. This role partners closely with the CFO, FP&A leadership, and external advisors to simplify processes, improve visibility, and ensure scalable financial reporting as the business expands globally.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Own and lead the global consolidation and close process across a multi-entity international structure, driving simplification and reduced cycle times.
  • Establish and enforce consistent close calendars, reporting standards, and GAAP alignment across domestic and foreign accounting teams.
  • Act as the primary accounting partner to international entities, fostering collaboration and accountability while elevating reporting quality.
  • Deliver insightful month‑end analysis, including meaningful variance explanations and trend commentary to support executive decision-making.
  • Oversee and mentor a global accounting team spanning general ledger, transactional accounting, and cost accounting functions.
  • Partner with finance leadership supporting ERP and CRM integrations to ensure accounting requirements are properly reflected in system design.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership for acquisitions, including purchase accounting and post‑close integration under U.S. GAAP.
  • Review and finalize global chart‑of‑accounts alignment to ensure consistency, scalability, and reporting efficiency.
  • Maintain oversight of intercompany activity, including loans and cross‑border transactions, with an eye toward cash optimization and repatriation strategy.
  • Monitor and maintain existing transfer pricing frameworks in coordination with external advisors, ensuring ongoing compliance and accurate cash flow modeling.
  • Support cash flow forecasting efforts as needed, with particular attention to capital expenditure and working capital dynamics.
  • Develop and refresh concise accounting policies related to inventory and fixed assets for acquired entities, prioritizing clarity and usability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline
  • (must have) Demonstrated experience leading global consolidations across multiple foreign entities
  • (must have) experience leading accounting at companies with annual revenue north of $300m
  • (must have) Strong background in foreign currency accounting and international financial reporting
  • (must have) Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or inventory‑driven operating environments
  • Proven ability to streamline and professionalize month‑end close processes
  • Track record of effective leadership and communication with geographically dispersed teams
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including business combinations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to standard costing or cost‑focused operating models
  • Experience with consolidation or reporting platforms (e.g., enterprise consolidation, planning, or reporting tools)
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Prior oversight of payroll or shared services accounting functions
