Job description

Controller

Department: Finance

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Atlanta, GA - Corporate Office

Description

OVME, pronounced “of me,” is a medical aesthetic enterprise that connects aspiring women and men with skilled health care providers in select cities nationwide. OVME combines a bespoke selection of minimally invasive cosmetic services with contemporary yet welcoming retail boutiques that promise the “Fountain OV You.”

Our team is composed of creative caregivers who provide solutions for “age appropriate” skin health. We believe the needs of the medical aesthetics consumer have evolved beyond the industry landscape. We are thought leaders who understand the status quo must be challenged to remain vibrant. We believe excellence is achieved through attention to detail. We are honest and transparent. We give back.

Our product promise is simple, “The best OV you.”

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking Controller at the Director level to lead our accounting function through its next stage of growth. With NetSuite now in place as our ERP, this role will own how we get the most out of it: automating the close, strengthening the integrations between NetSuite and the systems that run our studios, and putting AI tools to work so that accounting is faster, more accurate, and built to scale.

The ideal candidate pairs deep technical accounting and control discipline with a builder’s mindset. When you see a manual process, your first question is how to eliminate it, not just how to execute it. You will balance strategic ownership of the function with the day-to-day rigor that keeps our numbers right.

OVME is private equity-backed, operates across multiple states and legal entities, and works in a regulated healthcare environment. That combination brings investor- and lender-grade reporting expectations, multi-jurisdiction tax and entity complexity, and compliance requirements well beyond a typical consumer business. Experience navigating any of these will set you apart.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

The Controller reports to the SVP, Finance

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory and COGS, and tax compliance, across a multi‑state, multi‑entity, multi‑location organization.
  • Own entity‑level accounting and consolidation, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and entity‑level reporting.
  • Own the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close, delivering accurate and timely GAAP financial statements on a faster, more predictable close calendar.
  • Oversee revenue recognition for memberships, packages, and gift cards, including deferred revenue reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting for executive leadership and the board.
  • Manage the annual audit and tax provision process, serving as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors
Private Equity & Capital Partners
  • Maintain audit‑ready, investor‑grade books that stand up to private equity sponsor, board, and lender scrutiny.
  • Deliver timely monthly reporting to sponsors and lenders, including debt covenant calculations and compliance certificates.
  • Support capital markets and strategic activity, such as debt refinancing, equipment financing, and due diligence, including quality of earnings reviews and data requests.
  • Maintain the accounting for equity, incentive units, and transaction‑related items in partnership with outside advisors.
  • Multi‑State Tax, Regulatory & Compliance
  • Manage multi‑state tax compliance with outside advisors, including sales and use, income and franchise, property, and payroll taxes, and monitor nexus as we enter new markets.
  • Maintain legal entity compliance, including state registrations, annual reports, and licensing, in partnership with Legal.
  • Oversee compliance for gift cards, prepaid packages, and membership balances, including unclaimed property (escheat) reporting across states.
  • Maintain strong inventory and cost controls over regulated medical products, such as neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
  • Ensure financial systems and processes protect patient information and support the company’s broader healthcare regulatory compliance.
NetSuite, Automation & AI
  • Serve as the business owner of NetSuite, driving ongoing optimization of our new implementation through configuration, saved searches, workflows, dashboards, and multi‑subsidiary consolidation.
  • Strengthen and monitor integrations between NetSuite and our operating systems, including Zenoti (point of sale), Ramp (spend management), payroll, and procurement, so transactions reach the general ledger accurately with minimal manual effort.
  • Automate high‑volume, repeatable work such as bank and card reconciliations, accruals, intercompany entries, deferred revenue schedules, and AP processing, moving the team toward exception‑based review.
  • Identify, pilot, and scale practical AI use cases across the function, such as invoice capture and coding, reconciliation matching, flux and variance commentary, journal entry support, and accounting research, with clear review and control points.
  • Partner with Business Intelligence to ensure accounting data is clean, well‑structured, and ready for downstream reporting and analytics.
  • Build and own a technology roadmap for the accounting function, with measurable goals for close cycle time, manual journal entry volume, and reconciliation automation.
Internal Controls & Governance
  • Develop and maintain a robust internal control environment that safeguards company assets, including controls over system integrations, automated processes, and AI‑assisted work.
  • Ensure NetSuite roles, access, and segregation of duties are appropriately designed and regularly reviewed.
  • Maintain current, well‑documented accounting policies, procedures, and close checklists.
Leadership & Partnership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, building a high‑performing, collaborative culture of continuous improvement.
  • Upskill the team on NetSuite and AI tools, shifting time from transaction processing toward analysis and business partnership.
  • Collaborate with the SVP, Finance, the CFO, and the executive leadership team to develop financial strategies that support company growth.
  • Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and provide financial insights that support key business decisions.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE
  • The close runs on a shorter, predictable calendar in NetSuite, supported by a documented, repeatable close process.
  • Core integrations reconcile cleanly to the general ledger, with exceptions surfaced and resolved quickly
  • Manual journal entries and reconciliations are measurably reduced through automation.
  • Several AI‑enabled workflows are live in the accounting function, each with documented controls.
  • A clean annual audit, with no significant adjustments or control findings.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA a plus.
  • CPA certification required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and leases (ASC 842).
  • Hands‑on NetSuite experience required, ideally including post‑implementation optimization, workflow and saved search design, and multi‑subsidiary consolidation.
  • Demonstrated track record of automating accounting processes, with familiarity with close management, reconciliation, AP automation, and integration tools.
  • Practical, current experience using AI tools in finance or accounting workflows, and sound judgment about where they add value and where controls are required.
  • Experience in the following areas is a strong plus:
    • Private equity‑backed companies: sponsor and lender reporting, covenant compliance, and transactions such as refinancings, acquisitions, or quality of earnings diligence.
    • Multi‑state, multi‑entity organizations: consolidations, intercompany accounting, and multi‑jurisdiction sales, income, payroll, and property tax.
    • Compliance and regulation‑heavy industries, ideally healthcare, medical aesthetics, or other licensed consumer services, including unclaimed property and patient data considerations.
    • Membership, subscription, or prepaid revenue models in a multi‑location consumer business.
  • Proven success managing audits and leading process and systems improvements.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with SQL, BI tools, or data warehouses a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting and systems topics to non‑finance partners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and at all levels of the organization, including private equity partners, the board, and lenders.
