Controller

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Location: 100% Remote

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all Cash management activities including; daily reporting, cash forecasting, and treasury management through multiple financial institutions.
• Evaluate, develop, automate and improve department controls, systems, processes and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare and post journal entries (Jes) for complex transactions, accruals and reallocations subject to approval by the Controller
• Maintain all Balance Sheet account reconciliations monthly
• Own month-end close and ensure all month-end closing tasks are completed and complete financial statement preparation
• Ensure that close deadlines are met by managing the accounting team’s performance throughout the month and during the closing process
• Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department
• Review qualifying transactions for proper account classifications and allocations
• Ensure that all accounting processes align with current GAAP requirements and prepare for future guidance implementation
• Analyze financial data and create reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors or lenders.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
• Prepare sales tax, use tax and personal property tax returns in multiple states
• Manage, review, and submit annual 1099 and 1096 filings
• Lead the annual financial audit
• Assist other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
• Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and assignments as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Manage US and international accounting teams
• Must be able to manage offshore resources from multiple timezones (e.g. India) effectively

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in progressive accounting roles in a rapidly growing SaaS environment with at least 2 years of experience in an accounting lead role.
• Extensive knowledge of NetSuite required
• Experience working in a B2B SaaS organization preferred
• Strong understanding of deferred, non-recurring and recurring/subscription-based revenue recognition
• Experience working in private equity-owned businesses
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced spreadsheet and word processing skills required
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required
• Polished and professional written and oral communications
• Experience in problem solving and teamwork
• Exercises good judgment and care
