SellCord is a remote-first agency specializing in Walmart Marketplace. We seek a seasoned Controller to lead all accounting functions, oversee a remote finance team, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive strategic financial decision‑making.

You will manage payroll, AP/AR, financial reporting, and reconciliations while partnering with internal teams to streamline processes and scale the business. This is a high-impact role in a fast-growing e-commerce environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in SaaS, startup, or tech-enabled services preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
• Proficient with cloud-based accounting tools and automation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting functions: general ledger, A/P, A/R, revenue recognition, and reconciliations.
• Ensure records comply with GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and dashboards for SaaS/Tech-Enabled lines.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation.
• Manage cash flow, treasury, and payroll administration.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and banks.

Our finance team plays a vital role in shaping the financial structure of our company. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Controller to oversee accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy and support strategic financial decision-making.

About the Role

As the Controller at SellCord, you will lead and manage all core accounting functions, including payroll, A/P, A/R, financial reporting, and reconciliations. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and compliance while helping streamline processes for efficiency. You will oversee a remote team consisting of a Bookkeeper and an A/R Clerk. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing company in the e-commerce space.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Accounting Management & Compliance
• Oversee accounting functions: general ledger, A/P, A/R, revenue recognition, and reconciliations.
• Ensure records comply with GAAP and regulatory standards.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and dashboards.
• Deliver actionable insights for SaaS and Tech-Enabled business lines.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Process Optimization & Automation
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement scalable solutions.
• Optimize integration across financial systems and operational tools.
• Cash Flow & Treasury Management
• Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital.
• Develop and implement cash optimization strategies.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, and tax advisors.
• Payroll & Expense Management
• Oversee timely payroll and ensure compliance with all tax filings.
• Manage employee expense tracking and reporting.
• Audit & Tax Support
• Maintain audit readiness and prepare accurate financial documentation.
• Support annual tax processes and coordinate with CPA partners.

Skills and Qualifications

• - 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• - Proven success in a growing startup, high-growth SaaS, or Tech-Enabled Services organization is strongly preferred.
• - Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
• - Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, payroll systems, and Excel/Google Sheets.
• - Demonstrated ability to produce detailed financial statements and variance reports.
• - Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams, vendors, and external accountants.
• - Strong communication skills to explain financial data to non-financial team members.
• - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (preferred).
• - Experience in e-commerce or agency environments is a plus.
