Job summary

CORE Transformers seeks a hands-on Controller to lead and grow the finance function in Seneca, SC. You will own accounting, FP&A, budgeting, cash flow, and reporting, partnering with the CFO and executive team to drive growth.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of progressive financial leadership, strong GAAP knowledge, and experience implementing scalable systems in a mid-sized manufacturing environment. This role offers a path to shape a small but high-impact finance team as the company scales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
  • GAAP knowledge and strong analytical skills.

CORE Transformers is seeking a visionary Controller to lead our finance and accounting department at our thriving Seneca, SC headquarters. This pivotal role will build our finance department & implement strategies to fuel our explosive growth.

CORE Transformers is a leader in electrical power transformers serving commercial & industrial markets. Decades of industry knowledge and a world-class team have enabled us to provide top-tier products & services to our customers. As we expand our operations, we are committed to assembling an amazing finance team to support our ambitious goals. We're a small business feel (<40 people) with big business results (growing more than 100% YoY and don't plan on slowing down)!

Job Summary

You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate closely with the executive team. You'll play a key role in establishing and leading our finance department, taking on current work and driving future initiatives. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves to get things done.

CORE is an incredibly straightforward business and as a result, what might normally be done by several departments can be handled by a single capable leader (you) with support from your team. Your day to day would best be described as broad but shallow, owning all facets of finance including accounting, receivables, payables, cash flow, FP&A, costing, reporting, etc.

You’ll have a budget to hire additional roles as needed to augment the existing team and keep up with our rapid growth. If you're a finance jack of all trades type of person, you'll love this role. Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute financial strategies that align with CORE Transformers' growth objectives. Help chart a course for the future & accomplish growth goals.
  • Financial Operations: Oversee day-to-day financial activities including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, etc.
  • Systems and Processes: Implement robust financial systems and processes to support scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management: Lead key initiatives such as financial reporting packages for the executive team, expense tracking system implementation, and inventory audit process development in collaboration with operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven experience (6+ years) in progressively responsible financial leadership roles.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
