Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting operations in Phoenix, AZ. You will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close, while ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

This role partners with executive leadership to deliver strategic financial insights, manages and mentors the accounting team, and drives process improvements. A CPA and 10+ years of progressive financial leadership are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership including Controller roles
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
• Proven expertise in audits, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and FP&A
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems; ERP implementation experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/year-end close.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls while driving financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide strategic financial insights that support business growth and decision-making.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required;
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership, including serving in a Controller capacity
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven expertise in managing audits, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and overall financial planning and analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems; ERP implementation and administration experience is highly preferred.

Compensation

$175k-200k DOE

Schedule: 5 days on site in Phoenix, AZ

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
