Job summary

Jobot is seeking a hands-on Controller in Newark, NJ to own the financial engine of a rapidly scaling telecom firm. You will lead accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and translate data into insights that shape strategy and growth.

You will guide forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning while partnering with executives. A background in GAAP, NetSuite, and senior leadership is essential; Big Four exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience required; 10+ years preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or an ERP platform; familiarity with audits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations: GL, A/P, A/R, payroll, close.
• Deliver timely GAAP financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually.
• Lead financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting to improve visibility and opportunities.
• Partner with executives on strategic planning, resource allocation, and business strategy.
• Develop internal controls and coordinate external audits and tax advisors.
• Recruit, coach, and develop accounting talent; foster accountability and collaboration.

Job Details

Take ownership of the financial engine behind a growing business as our permanent Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on finance leader who combines technical accounting expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for building high-performing teams.

You will lead accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and turn complex financial data into insights that shape business strategy. Working closely with executive leadership, you will play a key role in forecasting, strategic planning, and driving sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and financial close.
• Deliver accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to improve visibility into performance, cash flow, and business opportunities.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and business strategy.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and support compliance.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with tax advisors and other external partners.
• Optimize NetSuite reporting, workflows, and accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Translate financial results into clear recommendations that help leaders manage risk, improve profitability, and make informed decisions.
• Recruit, coach, and develop accounting talent while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience required; 10 or more years preferred, including experience leading accounting operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Former Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or an equivalent enterprise accounting or ERP platform.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Proven leadership skills, including the ability to develop teams and partner effectively across functions.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to connect financial performance with business strategy.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with a hands-on approach to solving problems.
• CPA designation or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
