Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Associate Controller in Newark, NJ to own the financial engine behind a rapidly growing business. This hands-on finance leadership role balances technical accounting with strategic thinking and team-building across accounting operations.

You will drive forecasting, strategic planning, and growth initiatives while partnering with the Controller and executives to deliver accurate reporting and insights.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Former Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite or ERP platform.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and close.
• Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements per GAAP.
• Lead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to improve visibility and opportunities.
• Partner with leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and strategy.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with tax advisors and partners.
• Optimize NetSuite reporting, workflows, and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Translate financial results into clear recommendations for risk and profitability.
• Recruit, coach, and develop accounting talent and foster accountability.

Help take ownership of the financial engine behind a growing business as our permanent Associate Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands‑on up and coming finance leader who combines technical accounting expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for building high‑performing teams.

You will help lead accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and turn complex financial data into insights that shape business strategy. Working closely with the Controller and executive leadership, you will play a key role in forecasting, strategic planning, and driving sustainable growth.

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and financial close.
• Deliver accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Lead financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to improve visibility into performance, cash flow, and business opportunities.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and business strategy.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and support compliance.
• Manage external audits and coordinate with tax advisors and other external partners.
• Optimize NetSuite reporting, workflows, and accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Translate financial results into clear recommendations that help leaders manage risk, improve profitability, and make informed decisions.
• Recruit, coach, and develop accounting talent while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Former Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
• Hands‑on experience with NetSuite or an equivalent enterprise accounting or ERP platform.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Proven leadership skills, including the ability to develop teams and partner effectively across functions.
• Strong business judgment and the ability to connect financial performance with business strategy.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with a hands‑on approach to solving problems.
• CPA designation or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
