Our client, a growing private equity-backed manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting function and oversee a team of four accounting professionals. This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership opportunity for a CPA with strong manufacturing cost accounting experience who can bring structure, efficiency, and modern processes to the organization.

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will play a key role in strengthening the company's accounting operations, improving financial processes, and transitioning the organization toward a more efficient, paperless environment. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on accounting leader who combines strong technical accounting and manufacturing cost accounting expertise with a positive, collaborative, high‑energy approach. This person should be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, improving processes, and leading change in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations of the organization.
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately four accounting professionals across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing.
  • Evaluate current accounting workflows and organizational structure and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Partner with leadership to streamline the accounting function and appropriately leverage technology and automation.
  • Lead the company's transition toward a paperless accounting environment, eliminating unnecessary manual and paper‑based processes.
  • Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including product costing, inventory accounting, standard costs, variances, and manufacturing‑related financial analysis.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's general ledger and financial data.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and cash management processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve processes within the ERP and accounting environment.
  • Work closely with Operations and Manufacturing leadership to understand production costs, inventory, margins, and operational performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
  • Partner with executive leadership and the private equity ownership group on financial reporting and operational initiatives.
  • Support audits, tax requirements, and other compliance activities.
  • Utilize and improve existing ERP processes; experience with Infor SyteLine is a plus but not required.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to leadership to support business decisions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA certification is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Significant accounting experience, with previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar senior accounting leadership role.
  • Strong manufacturing cost accounting experience is required.
  • Experience overseeing accounting teams and managing AP, AR, and invoicing functions.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting, product costing, manufacturing variances, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working in an ERP environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows.
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership, operations, manufacturing, and private equity stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work 100% onsite in the 77868 area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a private equity‑backed manufacturing organization.
  • Experience with Infor SyteLine or a similar manufacturing ERP.
  • Experience leading accounting process automation or paperless transformation initiatives.
  • Experience restructuring or right‑sizing an accounting department.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and their impact on financial performance.
