Job summary

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting is partnering with a client in Methuen, MA to identify an experienced Controller to join their accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring CPA certification and strong technical accounting experience.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, manage close processes, produce financial statements, mentor staff, and coordinate budgeting and forecasting. Location is on-site in Methuen, MA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory or management duties.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Active CPA certification is required.
• Strong Excel skills, PivotTables and VLOOKUP.
• Knowledge of financial reporting and month-end close.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, payroll, cash management, and reconciliations.
• Lead and manage the monthly and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting.
• Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary contact for auditors.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency.

This is a key leadership opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting experience and a proven ability to lead a team. CPA certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, payroll, cash management, and account reconciliations
• Lead and manage the monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting
• Lead the annual audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
• Active CPA required

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, and general accounting principles
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Compensation

$175,000–$185,000 annually, depending on experience
