Job summary

Sensei Ag is seeking a hands-on Controller with a strong cost accounting background to strengthen financial rigor, controls, reporting, and analysis to support business decision-making and operational excellence. This position reports to the SVP, Accounting & Finance and is fully remote.

Prior experience in Agriculture, Biotech, Manufacturing, or another production/inventory-intensive environment is a strong plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation and knowledge of GAAP; CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or senior leadership.
  • Strong cost accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience strengthening internal controls.
  • Proven ability to streamline processes and improve financial systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach across detailed accounting and strategic work.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as trusted financial advisor to the SVP, Accounting & Finance.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close; prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reporting, and analysis.
  • Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting.
  • Lead and improve cost accounting: product costing, inventory valuation, labor/overhead allocation, COGS.
  • Analyze production costs, margins, variances, and provide insights to management.
  • Partner with operations to improve cost visibility and performance.
  • Develop and implement strong internal controls and approval processes.
  • Own NetSuite configuration, reporting, workflows, and controls.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems and workflows, including automation.
  • Collaborate with IT to support operational/reporting needs.
  • Lead, develop, and support the accounting team.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-orientedController with a strong Cost Accounting background to strengthen the company’s financial rigor, processes, controls, reporting, and analysis to support business decision-making and operational excellence.This position reports to the SVP, Accounting & Finance and is fully remote. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the SVP, Accounting & Finance.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close and prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting comply with U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, and other external financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead and improve cost accounting processes, including product costing, inventory valuation, labor and overhead allocation, and COGS.
  • Analyze production costs, margins, variances, and operational performance and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Partner with operations to improve cost visibility, financial accountability, and operational performance.
  • Develop, document, and implement strong internal controls and approval processes.
  • Serve as the key finance owner of NetSuite, including evaluating configuration, reporting, workflows, controls, and overall utilization.
  • Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and workflows, including opportunities for automation and integration.
  • Partner with IT and other departments to ensure financial systems effectively support operational and reporting needs.
  • Lead, develop, and support the accounting team.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Strong technical accounting foundation and knowledge of GAAP. CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including Controller or senior accounting leadership experience.
  • Strong cost accounting experience.

NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTThis Non-Disclosure Agreement (“Agreement”) is dated as of the date set forth below (the “Effective Date”) and is by and between the undersigned (“Recipient”) and Sensei Ag Holdings, Inc. (“Discloser”) for the benefit of Discloser, entities and persons affiliated with Discloser, and its and their respective members, managers and employees (the “Discloser Affiliates”). This Agreement establishes the confidentiality and use obligations of Recipient with regard to certain information disclosed or made available by Discloser to Recipient for the purpose stated in Section 2 below.The parties agree as follows:1. Definition. “Confidential Information” as used in this Agreement means any and all information disclosed or made available by Discloser to Recipient or to which Recipient otherwise becomes privy in connection with interactions or discussions with Discloser or Discloser’s representatives, whether disclosed in written or other tangible form, or by oral, visual, or any other means. Confidential Information includes, without limitation, all information (i) that should reasonably be understood by Recipient to be of a secret, confidential or personal nature to Discloser or any third party, whether because of legends or other markings, the circumstances of disclosure, or the nature of the information itself and (ii) information relating to Discloser’s or Discloser Affiliates’ financial matters, investments, business operations, strategies, organizational structure or organizational charts, or other non-public information about Discloser or Discloser Affiliates, as well as the existence of any actual or proposed transaction, agreement or relationship between Discloser and Recipient and the terms of this Agreement. “Confidential Information” does not include any information that (a) was publicly available at the time it was communicated to Recipient by Discloser or (b) becomes publicly available after it was communicated to Recipient by Discloser through no fault of Recipient.2. Purpose. Recipient may use the Confidential Information solely for the purpose of a business opportunity of mutual interest (the “Purpose”), and not for any other purpose.3. Obligations. Recipient will, at all times and notwithstanding any termination or expiration of this Agreement, hold in strict confidence and not use or disclose any Confidential Information to any third party, except as strictly necessary on a need-to-know basis in connection with the Purpose to Recipient’s financial or legal representatives who have signed confidentiality agreements or are otherwise bound by confidentiality obligations at least as restrictive as those contained herein. Recipient shall take reasonable precautions to safeguard the Confidential Information from unauthorized disclosure and will immediately notify Discloser upon discovery of any loss or unauthorized disclosure of any Confidential Information. Notwithstanding the above, Recipient shall not be in violation of this Agreement with regard to any disclosure in response to a valid order by a court or other governmental body, provided that Recipient provides Discloser with prior written notice of such disclosure in order to permit Discloser to seek to avoid or minimize the required disclosure and/or to obtain an appropriate protective order or other appropriate relief to ensure that any Confidential Information so disclosed is maintained in confidence to the maximum extent possible. Nothing in this Agreement shall obligate Discloser to proceed with any transaction, and each Party reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate any discussions or negotiations contemplated by this Agreement.4. Return or Destruction of Confidential Information. At any time after the disclosure, immediately upon Discloser’s request, Recipient agrees to promptly: (i) return all previously disclosed Confidential Information to Discloser or (ii) destroy or erase (on all forms of recordation) all Confidential Information in Recipient’s possession or control and certify such destruction of all copies (including any archival copies) of the Confidential Information (and delete all forms of recordation in whatever media stored, whether in existence now or invented in the future).5. Termination. The termination of any other transaction, agreement or relationship between or involving the parties shall not relieve Recipient of its obligations with respect to Confidential Information disclosed pursuant to the terms of this Agreement.6. Severability. If any of the provisions of this Agreement are held invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall be unimpaired.7. No Warranty. ALL CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” DISCLOSER DOESN’T MAKES ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE, REGARDING THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS OR PERFORMANCE OF ANY CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION, OR WITH RESPECT TO NON-INFRINGEMENT OR OTHER VIOLATION OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OR OTHER RIGHTS OF ANY THIRD PARTY OR OF RECIPIENT.8. No License. Nothing in this Agreement is intended to grant any rights to Recipient under any patent, mask work right or copyright of Discloser, nor shall this Agreement grant Recipient any rights in or to the Confidential Information of Discloser except as expressly set forth in this Agreement.9. Remedies. Recipient agrees that any violation or threatened violation of this Agreement may cause irreparable injury to Discloser, entitling Discloser to seek injunctive relief in addition to all legal remedies.10. General. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state of California without reference to conflict of laws principles. This Agreement may not be amended except by a writing signed by both Discloser and Recipient. Neither party shall assign or transfer any rights or obligations under this Agreement without the prior written consent of the other party. Any assignment in violation of this provision will be void.
