Job summary

Career Consulting Partners seeks a Controller for a CA-based litigation firm with AI-driven processes. You will lead day-to-day accounting, own the general ledger, and manage case cost tracking, trust/IOLTA compliance, and settlements.

Expect responsibility for month-end close, acquisitions, and internal controls. The role requires CPA licensure, a accounting degree, 5+ years of experience (2+ in supervision), and proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.

Qualifications

• CPA license
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years supervising staff
• Experience owning a full month-end close
• Working knowledge of trust/IOLTA accounting
• Strong QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills
• Familiarity with SmartAdvocate, Filevine, Litify, or Needles
• M&A or Transaction accounting experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Supervise AP, AR, and payroll staff, and own the month-end and year-end close
• Reconcile case costs between the case management system and QuickBooks
• Oversee settlement disbursement calculations (fees, costs, liens, referral fees) for CFO/partner approval
• Maintain strict, auditable segregation of client trust/IOLTA and operating funds
• Lead accounting for acquisitions, including purchase accounting, due diligence support, and integrating acquired practices' books and systems
• Produce weekly and monthly financial reports for partners and leadership
• Keep the firm audit- and State Bar–exam ready, and continuously test and improve internal controls

Career Consulting Partners is proud to partner with an innovative, AI tech-forward litigation law firm representing property owners and plaintiffs in complex construction defect and property damage matters across California, which is seeking a Controller. The Controller leads day-to-day accounting operations and is the hands-on owner of the general ledger, month-end close, and internal controls. This is a high-impact seat with real complexity: case cost tracking, trust/IOLTA compliance, settlement disbursements, and the accounting side of firm acquisitions.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation Range: $100,000 – $150,000 base, plus an annual discretionary bonus
