Job description

ElevenHundred+ is seeking a Senior Controller to lead accounting operations, with a focus on GAAP financial reporting, consolidated financial statements, close management and audit oversight. Reporting to the CFO, you'll own day-to-day accounting, strengthen financial reporting and controls, and improve processes and systems as the firm grows.

You'll work closely with the CFO, company leadership and business teams, managing a distributed accounting team initially consisting of two to three professionals, including a supervisor and accounting clerks. This is a hands‑on leadership role: you'll set priorities, review work and coach the team while remaining directly involved in accounting execution.

About ElevenHundred+

ElevenHundred+ is a management services organization that provides business, administrative and operational support services to Massumi + Consoli, a nationwide law firm. Massumi + Consoli was founded in 2015 as a spin‑out from the Private Equity and M&A Group of Kirkland & Ellis, and the firm's approach combines the proficiency of the best large international law firms with a highly personalized experience. ElevenHundred+ is a separate entity from the law firm, does not provide legal services and employs the business professionals who support Massumi + Consoli's attorneys and firm leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Own daily accounting and monthly, quarterly and annual close, including the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, payables, receivables and bill payments. Maintain GAAP policies, resolve discrepancies and research technical accounting matters.
  • Oversee corporate cards, expense reports and reimbursements, ensuring policy compliance, approvals, coding and reconciliation. Coordinate payroll with HR and providers, ensuring timely, accurate payments and accounting.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and monthly reporting packages, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations. Explain variances and provide reliable financial information to the CFO and business leaders.
  • Lead external audits, from planning and schedules through fieldwork and follow-through; coordinate financial data and supporting schedules with the external CPA firm for timely tax return preparation.
  • Manage internal audit activities as needed, address findings and strengthen controls, including approvals, documentation and segregation of duties.
  • Manage treasury, banking relationships, payment processes and cash controls. Partner with the CFO on cash flow forecasts and liquidity, and with billing teams on collections, payment timing and working capital.
  • Oversee legal billing, time entry, trust accounts and collections, ensuring accurate reporting and revenue recognition. Partner with attorneys and business teams to resolve issues and improve workflows.
  • Support ERP and financial system selection and implementation, leading accounting requirements, data validation, process design, testing and reconciliation. Standardize workflows and develop procedures and training for adoption.
  • Identify and lead or support AI and automation initiatives across accounting and finance, improving efficiency and accuracy while protecting controls and data confidentiality.
  • Set team priorities, review work and coach colleagues while remaining hands‑on. Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and strategic finance projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least eight years of progressive accounting experience, including five or more in industry, with substantial accounting operations and reporting responsibility.
  • Five or more years of Controller or comparable accounting leadership experience. Assistant Controllers from larger organizations with relevant scope and experience will also be considered.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with GAAP financial statements, close, consolidation, external audit leadership and internal controls.
  • Ability to lead a small team while remaining hands‑on; a collaborative, adaptable approach to supporting colleagues and managing shifting priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, including translating financial information into clear leadership insights.
  • Understanding of legal billing and timekeeping processes, or the ability to quickly develop proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation and public accounting experience.
  • Experience in a law firm, accounting firm, financial services or other professional‑services organization. Strong corporate GAAP accounting experience is prioritized over law firm experience.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed business, multi‑entity environment or sponsor reporting.
  • Treasury, cash flow forecasting and ERP implementation experience. Familiarity with NetSuite or legal accounting and billing systems is a plus.
Location and Working Schedule

Los Angeles is preferred; New York City and Dallas will also be considered. We work on a hybrid office schedule requiring three office days per week, generally Tuesday through Thursday, subject to change. Occasional travel to other firm offices is required as needed.

This is an exempt position. The role requires flexibility to work beyond standard business hours during close cycles, audit fieldwork and other periods of increased business demand.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $160,000-$200,000. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, geographic market and internal equity.

ElevenHundred+ offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits, paid time off and other employee benefits.

ElevenHundred+ is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions), national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, caregiver status, military or veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, reproductive health decision‑making, height, weight or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
